Vadodara, April 19 (IANS). M.K., which comes under Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) of Vadodara. Two students of Amin College, Padra have achieved great achievements in the field of science. B.Sc Microbiology students Arnav Dhamdhare and Hariom Pathak have discovered a bacteria from sea water that produces light in the dark.
These are called bioluminescent bacteria and their discovery remains a topic of discussion in the academic and science world. Arnav and Hariom have made not only their college proud but the entire Vadodara with their research and have also inspired young students.
Arnav Dhamdhare, a student of Amin College, said that the students of the school are invited to the Open House of Herbal Science. Our primary objective in isolating bioluminescent bacteria was to show something different. During our studies, we came to know that the ocean glows at night due to bioluminescent bacteria. This is the reason for discovering this bacteria. Arnav told that Hariom brought sea water. We have found bioluminescent bacteria. This bacteria is very useful.
Hariom Pathak, a student of Amin College, said that he has been working on this for the last one year. Our attempt was to discover this bacteria. It took us a year to refine and identify. Bioluminescent bacteria survive in salt water. It took six months to identify this bacteria. Due to small problems it took us more time to identify it.
The professor said that we have fully supported the students. Whatever he needed for research, we provided it. Bioluminescent bacteria will be used to make liquid. We are also going to try for this. At some places it is also being used for testing or diagnosis. We will also try to do this.
Let us tell you that in this research conducted under the guidance of Professor Devarshi Gajjar and Dr. Priya Mishra, these students collected sea water samples from Ratnagiri region of Maharashtra and isolated this special bacteria present in it and studied it. This research, which took about 11 months of hard work, precise laboratory experiments and scientific approach, ultimately led to this important success.
The Gujarat government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, is continuously promoting research and innovation, giving young scientists like Arnav and Hariom the opportunity to set new dimensions of success. Bioluminescent bacteria can be used in the future in the fields of pollution monitoring, medical research and biotechnology. At present, their pathological analysis is going on, after which it is expected that new avenues for their widespread use will open.
