New Delhi, January 29 (IANS). The Central Government is going to present the Economic Survey 2026 in the Parliament on Thursday. This survey will be presented before the Union Budget 2026-27 to be presented on February 1. This will make it clear what is the condition of India’s economy amid the ongoing uncertainties in the world.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey. During this time, all eyes will be on India’s GDP growth estimates for the current financial year 2025-26 and the upcoming financial year 2026-27.
Economic Survey is an important pre-budget document, in which the economic condition of the country for the entire year, the pace of development and short and medium term economic projections for the coming time are given.
Chief Economic Advisor V. Ananth Nageswaran also expressed his views on rupee weakness, geopolitical tensions and several other economic issues in a media article published on Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday, the budget session of Parliament started. On this occasion, President Draupadi Murmu addressed the joint meeting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the President’s address was comprehensive and visionary and effectively presented the vision of building a developed India. It also reflected the nation’s common aspiration for a strong and self-reliant India.
The Prime Minister said the President’s speech showcased the country’s development journey over the years and also presented a clear roadmap for the future.
In his speech, the President described 2026 as an important cornerstone in the nation’s ambitious path towards becoming a ‘developed India’. He said that in the first 25 years of the new millennium, India has achieved many great achievements and the country has seen many proud moments.
In the last decade or so, India has strengthened its foundation in every major sector, which has created strong potential for rapid growth in the future.
This formal speech of the President is the beginning of an important period of Parliament. After this, the Economic Survey will be presented on 29 January and then the Union Budget 2026-27 will be presented on 1 February.
