New Delhi, April 12 (IANS). Indian Oil Corporation took massive action to ensure fair supply of LPG across the country. The company informed that more than 10,600 inspections have been conducted so far and strict action has been taken against individuals and agencies violating the rules. These include actions like issuing show cause notices and suspension.

The company also said that in collaboration with the state governments, more than 1.2 lakh raids have been conducted across the country and more than 990 FIRs have been registered, so that the fair distribution system of LPG is maintained. IndianOil said that Indane Gas distributors are being continuously monitored so that the gas reaches every rightful consumer while maintaining service standards.

IndianOil clarified that priority is being given to supply of LPG to domestic consumers. The company’s focus is on ensuring transparency, efficiency and seamless delivery. Along with this, strict monitoring and strict enforcement measures have been implemented to prevent diversion, black marketing and hoarding.

According to the government, more than 51.5 lakh domestic LPG cylinders were delivered across the country on April 10. Nearly 1 lakh 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders were also sold on the same day, while their average daily sales in February 2026 were around 77,000.

The Petroleum Ministry said that since March 23, 2026, more than 12 lakh 5-kilogram FTL cylinders have been made available to vulnerable sections like students and migrant laborers. These cylinders will be kept with the state governments so that they can be delivered especially to the migrant laborers with the help of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).

Apart from this, public sector oil companies organized about 2,900 awareness camps in the last 8 days, in which more than 29,000 5-kg cylinders were sold.

The ministry has appealed to citizens not to panic buy petrol, diesel and LPG and trust only official sources. Consumers have been advised to book gas through digital platforms and avoid visiting distributors. Besides, emphasis has also been laid on energy saving and use of alternative fuels like PNG, electricity or induction.
