New Delhi, February 13 (IANS). Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told Parliament on Friday that 3.03 crore suspicious user IDs have been deactivated in train ticket booking by 2025 due to Aadhaar-based authentication, multi-layered cyber security and anti-fraud measures, thereby ensuring seamless booking for genuine users.

Responding to a question asked in the Rajya Sabha, the Union Minister said that to ensure the security of the country’s e-ticket system, 6,043 crore malicious bot requests have been blocked in six months (December 2025).

The Union Minister said, 376 complaints related to 3.99 lakh suspicious bookings have been registered on the National Cyber Crime Portal and 12,819 suspicious email domains have been blocked in 2025.

According to the Union Minister, Aadhaar based One-Time Password (OTP) verification has been introduced for online Tatkal ticket booking to prevent abuse and ensure fairness in Tatkal ticket booking.

Aadhaar authentication enables instant verification of users’ identity, which is extremely important given the time-bound nature of Tatkal ticket booking.

The Union Minister further said, “Multiple application-level security controls have been implemented, including CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to distinguish computers and humans) system deployed at multiple levels to protect against scripting, brute-force attacks and DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks.”

He further informed that several security measures have also been implemented under OWASP (Open Web Application Security Project) to deal with application security vulnerabilities.

Additionally, to improve system performance, Indian Railways has implemented Content Delivery Network (CDN) to offload static content and reduce direct traffic to the Internet Ticket Booking Website system.

The Union Minister said that anti-bot solutions like AKAMAI are used to filter out illegal users, thereby helping in reducing malicious/suspicious attempts on the internet ticket booking website system and ensuring smooth booking for genuine passengers.
