New Delhi, June 12 (IANS). An IndiGo flight from Lucknow to Delhi was stopped on Friday after a bomb threat written on tissue paper was found in the toilet of the plane. After this incident, the security agencies at the airport immediately started a comprehensive investigation.
This flight, going to Delhi with about 180 passengers, was scheduled to depart from Lucknow at 10:45 am. As preparations for takeoff were underway, crew members became aware of a potential security threat to the aircraft.
After this the aircraft was immediately stopped on the apron and was not allowed to take off. Security agencies started emergency action as per the prescribed procedure.
The matter came to light when “bomb” was found written on a tissue paper kept in the toilet of the plane.
As soon as this information was received, airport security personnel and other agencies started a thorough investigation of the aircraft and its surrounding area.
Authorities later found that it was only a false threat. No explosive or suspicious object was found in the aircraft during the security check.
An IndiGo spokesperson issued a statement saying that on June 12, flight 6E 2111 from Lucknow to Delhi had received a security related alert shortly before take-off.
“A security threat was detected on IndiGo flight 6E 2111 just before take-off. As per the prescribed security procedure, we immediately informed the relevant authorities and are fully cooperating in the necessary security investigation,” the spokesperson said.
He further said, “After getting all the necessary permissions, the aircraft will depart for Delhi. We regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers and we are providing them refreshments and necessary information from time to time.”
The airline apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers and said that arrangements for refreshments and regular updates have been made for them to minimize inconvenience.
“As always, the safety of our passengers, crew and aircraft is our top priority,” the spokesperson said.
