New Delhi, July 13 (IANS). State-run telecom company BSNL on Monday reported a 10 per cent year-on-year growth in its core service revenue in the first quarter (April-June) of the financial year 2026-27, and the company’s core service revenue increased to Rs 4,418 crore, mainly due to the strong performance of enterprise business and mobile services.
The company’s core service income in the same quarter of the last financial year was Rs 4,017 crore. This time, enterprise business and consumer mobility (mobile services) were the main areas that increased the company’s income.
The performance of the company was reviewed by Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia. He chaired the strategic review and planning meeting held to assess the business and operational performance of all 28 telecom circles in the country during the April-June quarter.
Describing it as a strong start of the financial year, Scindia said that all three major business engines of BSNL are performing well. He urged all circles to maintain this momentum throughout the year through disciplined implementation and constant monitoring.
He said, “All three business engines of BSNL are working at full capacity. This is an encouraging start to the financial year, but we aim to maintain this momentum throughout the year. Sustainable growth is possible only with disciplined implementation, consistent monitoring and unwavering commitment to customers.”
Among the company’s various business segments, the Enterprise business was the best performer. Income of this segment increased by 19.2 percent to Rs 1,745 crore, compared to Rs 1,463 crore in the same period last year.
At the same time, the company earned Rs 1,724 crore from consumer mobility, which is 8 percent more as compared to Rs 1,594 crore in the same quarter last year.
Additionally, the company’s revenue from consumer fixed access (landline and broadband services) stood at Rs 960 crore, compared to Rs 948 crore in the same period last fiscal.
During the review meeting, the Union Minister recognized Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh (West) and Karnataka as the best performing BSNL circles on key operational parameters.
Jyotiraditya Scindia said that now in the next phase of transformation of BSNL, special focus will be on better customer experience and operational excellence.
He directed all circles to improve service quality indicators such as Optical Line Terminal (OLT) uptime, Base Transceiver Station (BTS) uptime and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) to enhance network reliability and provide better services to customers.
