New Delhi, November 8 (IANS). There was a technical glitch in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) messaging system at Delhi Airport, due to which many flights were delayed and some were cancelled. After this, Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu visited the Delhi Air Navigation Services (ANS) Center near the airport and reviewed the situation. This information was given in the official statement released on Saturday.

Civil Aviation Ministry Secretary Sameer Kumar Sinha, AAI Chairman Vipin Kumar and other senior officials were also present with him.

The Minister directed the CMD of ECIL to deploy more technical staff so that the system can be repaired soon. To ensure less hassle for passengers, Naidu asked to appoint more ATC staff at Delhi Airport to handle air traffic manually.

Right from the start, teams from Airports Authority of India (AAI), Air Navigation Services (ANS) and Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) worked around the clock to locate and fix the problem.

ECIL immediately dispatched additional personnel to assist in the restoration work. During this period, ATC staff took over the flight operations manually to ensure passenger safety and minimize inconvenience.

“With the coordinated efforts of ECIL engineers, ATC personnel and active monitoring of the Ministry, the system was restored to fully automated mode by the afternoon of November 8 (today). No flights were canceled today due to this problem,” the ministry said in a statement.

Naidu later visited the ATC tower to review the normal operations and appreciated the commitment of the teams working throughout the night to resolve the problem.

The Minister has directed that a detailed root-cause analysis be conducted to prevent recurrence of such irregularities in future. He also directed officials to plan further improvements in the system, including additional or fallback servers to strengthen ATC operations.

Let us inform that there was a major disruption in flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Friday due to a technical glitch in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system, after which the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Saturday said that it has successfully resolved the technical problem in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS).
