New Delhi, November 9 (IANS). Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal on Sunday urged the Central government to set up a National Cyber Security Certification Council to strengthen India’s cyber security and ensure the security of the country’s large digital ecosystem.
In a letter to Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Khandelwal said that the rapid digital transformation in India has revolutionized governance, business and public services, but has also given rise to cyber fraud, data breaches and misuse of digital platforms.
Khandelwal said in his letter, “The same technology that empowers can also create danger and now the time has come that we move towards stronger institutional security measures.”
He proposed the formation of a National Cyber Security Certification Body to promote and standardize cyber security education, certification and skill development across the country. He said that this initiative will be in line with the government’s vision of Digital India and a developed India, thereby creating a capable workforce to protect the country’s digital assets.
“Our aim should be to strengthen India’s cybersecurity talent pool through structured, certified and applied research while ensuring that every digital citizen is empowered and protected,” he said.
Khandelwal suggested that the proposed council provide globally recognized certifications such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI), Certified Network Defender (CND), Certified Security Analyst (CSA), Licensed Penetration Tester (LPT) and Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO).
He said that these programs will help in developing skilled ethical hackers, forensic experts and cyber security leaders.
He further said that the council will help bridge the talent gap in India’s cyber security sector, train professionals and promote cyber awareness among citizens, entrepreneurs and government officials.
Khandelwal said, “India’s aspiration to become the world’s leading technology hub must rest on a strong cyber security foundation. A National Cyber Security Certification Council will ensure that India’s digital progress remains secure, self-reliant and globally competitive.”
