New Delhi, Oct 31 (IANS) Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with indigenous digital mapping and geospatial technology company Maples MapmyIndia. The agreement aims to make the Metro more convenient for commuters in the Delhi-NCR region by providing real-time updates through the Maples app.
Under this partnership, DMRC’s Metro data will be integrated into the Maples app, giving over 3.5 crore users access to real-time Metro information such as nearby stations, routes, fares, train frequencies, line changes and journey times at a glance.
DMRC Managing Director Dr Vikas Kumar said that this integration will make travel in the NCR region seamless and efficient. He said, “Delhi Metro is committed to enhancing passenger convenience through innovation and technology. This collaboration will help passengers plan better, navigate easily and save time.”
Rakesh Verma, co-founder, managing director and group president of MapMyIndia, said the partnership will soon enable multi-modal transportation features to be available on the Maps app. Integration of DMRC data will make travel in Delhi-NCR faster, smarter and seamless. The initiative will also promote transparency and public engagement through Maples’ advanced traffic and public engagement platform. With this feature, users will not only be able to get metro travel updates but also locate nearby government services and report civic and traffic problems like congestion, accidents or waterlogging directly from their smartphones.
This information will be shared with the concerned authorities in real-time, helping them respond quicker and manage traffic better. The platform will also send alerts about road accidents, helping emergency services respond faster and keep Delhi-NCR roads safe for commuters.
This partnership is another step towards building a smarter and more connected public transport network for India’s capital region.
