New Delhi, December 22 (IANS). The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) said that a special system called Financial Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI) has helped in preventing cyber fraud worth Rs 660 crore in just 6 months of its implementation. This system helps in identifying frauds related to banks and digital payments in advance.

FRI is getting full support from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). For this reason, a large number of banks, financial institutions and digital app companies are using Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) by connecting to this system.

So far, more than 1,000 banks, payment companies and third party apps have joined the digital intelligence platform and are actively using FRI. This is helping in stopping cyber fraud in time.

According to the Ministry of Communications, the Department of Telecommunications is also conducting regular training sessions to provide correct information about FRI to the people and institutions. So far, 16 such sessions have taken place so that this system can be implemented in a better way.

In today’s time, cyber crime is changing very fast. Thugs are now working like digital gangs. They are using the network for digital arrest scam, fake calls and in illegal ways, due to which the danger has increased further.

The biggest help in this difficult situation has come from public participation. Through a platform named Sanchar Sathi, common people are giving information related to cyber fraud to the government. With this, FRI is being strengthened further.

DOT has appreciated all those aware citizens and cyber warriors who are using Sanchar Saathi website and mobile app. People can give information about suspicious calls, fake connections taken in their name and lost or stolen mobile phones here.

The number of people downloading and using Sanchar Sathi mobile app is continuously increasing. It is clear that people are trusting this platform and playing an active role in stopping cyber fraud.

The ministry said that the department has appealed to all citizens to use the Sanchar Sathi website and mobile app as much as possible.
