Visual search has increased 70% year-over-year worldwide. India has been a hotbed of this change, with Indians being the largest users of Google Lens worldwide. Users are now using images to understand, recognize or learn about things.
AI mode, search live, and new updates
To make searches even easier, Google released several major updates in 2025. According to the company, Gemini 3 was integrated into search, in which the new AI mode uses advanced reasoning for difficult questions. The Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image) feature allows users to turn any idea into an image, whether it’s a design, infographic or prototype. Virtual Apparel Try On feature launched in India, allowing millions of clothes to be tried on virtually using just one phone.

This year, India’s search trends were quite different. In sports, both IPL and women’s cricket became very popular. People also showed tremendous interest in the world of AI; Google Gemini became the second fastest trending search of the year.
People also adopted new AI trends like nanotechnology. Rising stars like Jemimah Rodrigues and Vaibhav Suryavanshi were among the trending personalities. The number of questions related to big events like Mahakumbh increased. People often searched keywords like “earthquake near me” and “AQI near me”.

In India, people were attracted to new places like Phu Quoc this year. On the internet, Syara, Labubu and #67 memes were trending and much talked about. Apart from this, people showed their respect towards veteran film star Dharmendra by searching a lot of information about him.
