Mumbai, June 27 (IANS). The ICAI Scaleup India Summit 2026 held at Jio World Convention Center (BKC), Mumbai, laid special emphasis on strengthening startups and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). During this, Prasanna Kumar, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Gyan Chand Mishra, Central Council member of ICAI, spoke to news agency IANS and said that the objective of this summit is to give a new direction to new entrepreneurs by providing them with the right guidance, investment, banking assistance and connecting them with experts.
Speaking to IANS, ICAI President Prasanna Kumar said that this two-day summit has been organized especially for MSMEs and startups. He said that there are many young entrepreneurs in the country who have great business ideas, but they do not know how to start a business and grow it. Keeping this need in mind, potential entrepreneurs, startups, investors, bankers, mentors, incubators and chartered accountants have been brought together on this platform.
He said that during the summit, 106 applications for funding were received from startups. These applications were reviewed by an expert team, after which 12 startups were selected. These selected startups got the opportunity to present their business models to investors, bankers and mentors. If investors find these proposals suitable then after necessary due diligence they will invest in these startups, which will help them in taking their business forward.
Prasanna Kumar told IANS that the main objective of this initiative is to provide the right support to startups at the initial stage, so that they can convert their ideas into successful businesses. He said that most of the startups in India are based on Indian thinking and innovation, which have huge potential for implementation in the country as well as in the global markets.
He also informed that more than 5,000 startups have registered their patents in the country. Many startups are developing such new and innovative products, which can create good demand even at the global level. He said that such innovations will also give a new impetus to India’s exports and will further strengthen the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Made in India’ campaigns.
Meanwhile, ICAI Central Council member Gyanchand Mishra, while talking to IANS, said that this two-day conference has been organized with the aim of giving right direction to startups and MSMEs. The focus of the first day was on startups, while on the second day various topics related to MSMEs were discussed.
He told that in the conference it was explained to the startups how to start their business, how to get investment, what is the process of taking loan from the bank and how to establish their business in the mainstream. Apart from this, the challenges faced by MSMEs and their solutions were also discussed in detail.
Mishra told IANS that around 3,500 participants took part in the two-day event. The aim of the conference is to provide right guidance, financial assistance and expert support to new entrepreneurs and startups, so that they can grow their business at a faster pace and contribute significantly to the economic progress of the country.
