New Delhi, July 11 (IANS). NITI Aayog organized an important stakeholder consultation meeting on the effective implementation of the ‘Peace Act 2025’, in which experts from government, research institutes and industry gave their suggestions on various aspects of the law, which will be helpful in further strengthening its implementation framework.

According to NITI Aayog, this meeting was attended by leading experts from the government, policy-makers, research institutes and industry. The main objective of the discussion was to make the operation of the Peace Act 2025 effective and practical.

The discussion in the meeting was organized on the basis of three major pillars required for successful implementation of the law.

First, the legislative and regulatory framework. In this session, the provisions related to the draft rules, regulations and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy prepared under the Peace Act 2025 were discussed in detail.

Experts deliberated on the process of statutory compliance under the law. It was also discussed how to attract foreign investment while the country’s strategic and national interests remain completely safe.

Second, finance, insurance and public trust. In this session, financial arrangements and risk management necessary for successful implementation of the law were discussed.

It also considered strategies to create appropriate insurance arrangements for long-term nuclear power projects and to increase awareness, trust and acceptance of nuclear power projects among the general public.

And third, manufacturing, operations and capacity building, which discussed the operational process after the implementation of the law. In this session, emphasis was laid on increasing domestic manufacturing capacity, strengthening operational preparedness of projects and developing skilled human resources.

Stakeholders also gave suggestions on making the supply chain more robust and resilient and designing special capacity building programs for the expansion of the industry.

This meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Professor Abhay Karandikar, member of NITI Aayog.

The PEACE Act 2025 aims to make India self-reliant in the nuclear energy sector and achieve the clean energy goals set under the Develop India 2047.

Through this legislation, responsible participation of the private sector and joint ventures will be ensured, which will help in overcoming resource constraints, timely completion of projects and achieving the national target of developing 100 GW nuclear power capacity by 2047. Also, there will be no compromise on national security and public interest.
