New Delhi, February 16 (IANS). ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ started in New Delhi from Monday. Heads of state, heads of government, ministers, technology giants, researchers, representatives of multilateral institutions and industry experts are participating in this global conference.

The objective of this summit is to discuss the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in promoting inclusive growth, strong public order and sustainable development. The special thing is that this is the first global conference focused on AI on such a large scale, which is being organized in the Global South.

This five-day conference will continue till February 20. More than 100 government representatives are participating, including more than 20 heads of state and government and 60 ministers and deputy ministers. Apart from this, more than 500 global AI experts, including CEOs, founders, academicians, researchers, CTOs and representatives of philanthropic organizations are also participating.

On February 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the summit and address the people. His address will provide direction to global collaboration and India’s vision of inclusive and responsible AI.

The highlight of the summit is the three major Global Impact Challenges – AI for All, AI by Everyone and Youth. The announcement of the finalists of these competitions and the grand finale presentation will take place in this summit. Their objective is to promote AI technologies that are inclusive, responsible and development-oriented. These challenges received over 4,650 applications from over 60 countries, reflecting India’s growing recognition in the AI sector globally.

A total of 70 teams have been selected as finalists across the three categories after a multi-level scrutiny process involving experts and policy makers. These teams will present their solutions on 16th and 17th February at Bharat Mandapam and Sushma Swaraj Bhawan. They will get the opportunity to connect with policy makers, industry leaders, investors and academics.

A research seminar on the topic ‘AI and its Impact’ will be organized in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad on February 18, for which about 250 research papers have been received from Africa, Asia and Latin America. Estonian President Eller Karis and Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will also participate in it.

The symposium will be attended by the world’s renowned AI experts and leading research institutions, in which topics such as AI-based scientific discovery, security and regulatory frameworks, equitable access to computing resources and research collaboration between countries in the Global South will be discussed.
