Nice/New Delhi, June 17 (IANS). Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said he met Prince Albert II of Monaco and discussed expanding India-Monaco partnership in areas such as sustainability, blue economy, innovation and emerging technologies.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that he also informed about the flagship ‘India Innovates 2026’ event organized in Nice, which showcased India’s vibrant technology and innovation ecosystem and played an important role in strengthening global collaboration.
“I am confident that India-Monaco relations will touch new heights in the years to come,” Goyal said in a post on social media platform ‘X’.
Earlier, Piyush Goyal addressed the closing ceremony of ‘Bharat Innovates 2026’ held in Nice and expressed confidence over the achievements made in the last three days. He said that these achievements show the immense potential of India-France innovation partnership.
He highlighted that the inspirational leadership of Prime Minister Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron and their shared vision under the ‘India-France Innovation Year 2026’ created a strong foundation for what has emerged as a truly transformative platform today.
“I invite industry leaders, CEOs, investors and innovators to work together for India to build a bright and sustainable future driven by innovation at scale,” Union Minister Piyush Goyal said in another post on ‘X’.
Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal also visited the prestigious Fragonard factory located in Grasse city of France. The visit gave them an inspiring glimpse of the historic legacy that has shaped the global perfume and fragrance industry for generations.
They discussed the vast possibilities of further deepening cooperation between India and France in the areas of luxury manufacturing, design and high value trade.
Piyush Goyal said, “By combining the expertise of France with India’s rich heritage, deep traditional knowledge and skilled workforce, we can create new opportunities for innovation and position India as a leading force in the premium fragrances and luxury sectors.”
Apart from this, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal also launched India’s digital payment system UPI at the prestigious Galeries Lafayette Nice Messina located in Nice city of France.
