New Delhi, February 19 (IANS). Adani Airport Holdings Ltd Director Jeet Adani on Thursday said the question now is not whether India will participate in the AI century or not, but the real question is whether this century of AI will have India’s mark – “with its intelligence, its standards and most importantly, its values.”
Addressing the AI Impact Summit 2026 held in the national capital, Adani said India’s IT revolution made the country a global digital services powerhouse.
Addressing the gathering, he said, “But a large part of that productivity went not to our country, but to other countries. The AI revolution is giving India a once-in-a-century opportunity to change this equation.”
Describing this summit as a ‘decisive turning point in history’, he said that AI is going to redefine sovereignty.
He said, “The real question facing our country is not whether we will adopt AI or not. The question is whether India will import intelligence or create it ourselves, whether we will just use productivity or create it, whether we will integrate with someone else’s system or build the system ourselves.”
He pointed out three pillars of sovereignty that define India’s AI century – energy sovereignty, compute and cloud sovereignty, and service sovereignty.
Jeet Adani further said, “These are not just technical concepts, but the foundation of modern nationalism.”
He stressed that if a country’s energy system is weak, its intelligence system will also be weak. In today’s AI era, the power grid and the data grid are interconnected.
He said, “This means that India’s renewable energy expansion – solar, wind and energy storage – is no longer just a climate policy, but a strategic infrastructure policy. Energy security is now going to be equal to intelligence security. And sustainable energy will become a competitive advantage.”
He further said that AI should first become a means of increasing the capabilities of Indian citizens, only then should it become a means of increasing profits for others.
Jeet Adani said, “Earlier this week, Adani Group Chairman and my father Gautam Adani announced one of the most transformative announcements in India’s tech history, saying that the Adani Group will invest $100 billion to build a sovereign, green-energy powered AI infrastructure platform for the country.”
“This is not just the expansion of a data centre, but the beginning of a 5 gigawatt and $250 billion integrated energy and compute ecosystem that will form the foundation of India’s ‘intelligence revolution’,” he said.
Jeet Adani further said that this commitment by combining renewable energy, grid resilience and hyperscale computing into an integrated framework ensures that India’s AI future is not only energy driven, but also secure, sovereign and nationally built.
