New Delhi, December 14 (IANS). India has achieved the position of becoming the third strongest and competitive country in the world in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This information is given in the Global AI Vibrancy Tool report of Stanford University. This ranking shows that India’s rapidly growing technology sector and its skilled people are playing an important role in the world’s AI development journey.
According to the report, America ranks first in the world in terms of AI, with a score of 78.6. China is in second place and its score is 36.95. Whereas, India is at third place, whose score is 21.59. In this list, India has left behind developed countries like South Korea, Britain, Singapore, Japan, Canada, Germany and France.
This AI ranking of Stanford is made keeping in mind many things, which include aspects like research and development, availability of talented people, investment, impact on the economy, technological infrastructure, government policies and people’s opinion. Its purpose is to show how fast AI technology is progressing in which country and how much governments are supporting it.
The report states that a country’s income level affects its strength in AI. High-income countries are leading in this list, while upper-middle-income countries like China and Brazil are also progressing rapidly. India is special because, despite being among the low-income countries, it is ranked very high in this list, which shows its distinct identity.
Different countries are ahead in different areas. The United States leads in research and development, policy and governance, economy, infrastructure, and responsible AI. China is performing well in talent, economy and infrastructure, while India is among the top three countries in terms of talent as it has a large number of skilled engineers and technical experts.
The report also raises a broader concern that if all countries are not given equal opportunities to develop AI, inequality between them could increase. But, this ranking is a big achievement for India. This shows that investment in AI in the country is increasing, the level of research is improving, startups are growing rapidly and India has a large number of skilled technical youth.
