New Delhi, December 28 (IANS). A brief outage on Meta’s social media platform Instagram on Sunday upset users. Users mainly complained of problems logging in and accessing the app, which were mostly reported in the US.
According to outage-tracking website DownDetector, reports of problems peaked at around 4:10 am (ie around 2:40 pm IST), with more than 180 users reporting the issue. This interruption did not last long.
Many users said they were unable to log in to Instagram or load content during the outage.
Many made everyone aware of the problem by sharing screenshots on other social media platforms.
The photos showed a blank screen with a round refresh icon, and no specific error messages on the app.
Downdetector data showed that 45 percent of users reported app issues, while 41 percent reported login issues.
14 percent said that they were not able to load the feed.
However, this outage had very little impact in India. According to DownDetector, only 10 users in the country reported problems while accessing Instagram, which shows that this problem was limited to certain areas.
Metra has not yet released any official statement regarding the cause of the outage or the timing of the interruption.
There was a flood of reactions from users on social media platforms. One user said, “Is Insta down??
This is not the first time that a Meta platform has faced technical problems. Earlier this year, WhatsApp faced several outages, affecting users around the world, including India.
In a similar incident in September, thousands of users were unable to send messages or upload status updates, leading to a flood of complaints on social media.
