New Delhi, February 23 (IANS). Apple’s iPhone has become the most exported product from India in 2025 and during this period, about $ 23 billion of iPhones have been exported (mostly to America). This information came out from industry data.

Industry insiders said the surge in Apple’s exports was due to production incentives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and diversification from Chinese suppliers.

With exports totaling $30.13 billion in the January-December period, smartphones have become India’s top export category for the first time, overtaking automobile diesel fuel. Apple’s share in total smartphone exports was 76 percent. Apple’s five-year PLI period is set to end in March 2026.

Apple’s manufacturing ecosystem in the country includes five iPhone assembly plants, three of which are operated by Tata group units and two by Foxconn, and is supported by a supply chain of about 45 companies, including many MSMEs that supply components to domestic and global operations.

India has become the world’s second largest mobile phone producer, with more than 99 percent of phones sold domestically being ‘Made in India’. This has further increased India’s position in the manufacturing value chain.

According to a recent report by Counterpoint Research, there has been a big change in the smartphone buying pattern of Indian consumers, now premium phones are being sold more than budget ones. The base variant of Apple’s iPhone 16 has emerged as the best-selling smartphone model in 2025.

In the December quarter, Apple set new all-time revenue records in the US, Europe, Japan and the rest of Asia Pacific.

“We continued our momentum in emerging markets, including India, where we delivered strong double-digit revenue growth,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a recent earnings call.

The company is going to open another store in Mumbai on 26th February.

Apple’s CEO said they set a new record for revenue during the December quarter in India.

“India is the world’s second largest smartphone market and fourth largest PC market,” he said. He further said that the company has “set new records for revenue on iPhone, Mac and iPad, and an all-time new record for revenue on Services.”
