Reliance Jio has launched new recharge plans for its 4G feature phone users. The company has discontinued its previous plans and launched a new category specifically for 4G feature phone plans. The special thing is that this change has been made after the objections of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). This change will directly impact those users who use JioPhone or other 4G keypad devices. The new plan structure aims to make pricing and benefits simpler and more transparent, providing better clarity to users.
Change in strategy after pressure from TRAI
Jio has made these changes in its plan in response to the objections of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. TRAI had expressed concern over the lack of transparency in device-specific recharge plans. As a result, the company has completely updated its entire plan portfolio. The earlier ‘JioBharat’ plans have been renamed, and the various plans that were previously available only to JioPhone users have been discontinued entirely. Now, under the new 4G feature phone plan category, all users will get the same and simple offer.
Starting Price: ₹123
Jio’s new plans now start at ₹123, offering 28 days validity, unlimited calling, 0.5 GB data per day and a total of 300 SMS. Users who want more validity can choose the 56-day plan for ₹234 or the 84-day plan for ₹369; Both of these provide similar benefits. Additionally, an annual plan of ₹1,234 is also available, which has a validity of 336 days and includes 0.5 GB data per day and unlimited calling. This plan is a great option for users who do not like frequent recharge and want long validity.
Data add-ons and affordable plans
Jio has also introduced new data add-on plans, allowing users to purchase additional data as per their specific needs. These add-ons offer 2 GB data for ₹26 and 6 GB data for ₹62. Additionally, the option of daily data booster has also been added to the ₹86, ₹122 and ₹182 plans. One highlight is the ₹21 plan, which is available only to those buying a new 4G feature phone and has a validity of 4 days. At the same time, the already available cheaper plan of ₹ 91 has now been discontinued, due to which there has been a slight increase in the starting price of the new plan.
