New Delhi, April 28 (IANS). For the first time since tensions began in West Asia on February 28, a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) tanker has been successful in passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This information was given in reports released on Tuesday quoting ship tracking data.
According to ship tracking data, the tanker Mubaraj, loading NNG from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company’s Das Island plant, passed the southern tip of India in early March.
Due to tensions, the LNG tanker remained in the Persian Gulf for several weeks and transmission signals stopped around March 31, after which signals resumed as it approached India, reports said.
Since the start of the war between America and Iran, the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz has almost stopped. About 20 percent of the world’s crude oil and gas is exported through this narrow route in the Persian Gulf.
Due to tension, Iran has completely blocked the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, America has also completely blocked Iranian ships coming and going through the Strait of Hormuz.
Ship tracking data showed that the destination of LNG tanker Mubaraj is China and it is expected to reach by May 15.
Several ships carrying LNG from Qatar had approached the Strait of Hormuz in recent weeks but had to turn back due to continuing geopolitical tensions.
Talks are going on between Iran and America to reduce tension. Iran has made a new peace proposal to America, in which it has promised to open the Strait of Hormuz, but due to lack of consensus on the nuclear issue, America has rejected this proposal for the time being.
