New Delhi, January 8 (IANS). More than 90 percent of professionals in India are planning to use AI to find jobs in the year 2026. This information has come to light in the report of professional network platform LinkedIn on Thursday.

The report says that AI is no longer just a means to make work easier, but it is also increasing the confidence of job seekers. About 66 percent people believe that AI increases their confidence during interviews.

According to the report, due to the increasing use of AI in the hiring process, rapidly changing demand for skills, and intense competition, 84 percent of professionals feel that they are unprepared to find a new job. Despite this, 72 percent of people are actively looking for a new job in 2026.

Although 87 percent of people are comfortable using AI at work, many are confused about how AI is being used in the recruitment process. About 77 percent of people said that there are many stages in the hiring process, while 66 percent find the process more impersonal than before.

Neerjita Banerjee, LinkedIn Career Expert and Senior Managing Editor, LinkedIn India News, said that AI has now become an important part of India’s job market. He explained that proper use of AI helps people understand how their skills are linked to job opportunities, and helps them prepare better.

According to LinkedIn data, the number of people applying for every single job in India has more than doubled since 2022. Due to this the competition has increased a lot. At the same time, 74 percent of recruiting companies say that finding the right candidate is now more difficult than before.

The report also states that about 32 percent of Generation Z people are thinking about new work or roles, while 32 percent of the youth are looking for jobs outside their current field.

According to LinkedIn’s ‘India Jobs on the Rise’ report, prompt engineers, AI engineers and software engineers are among the fastest growing jobs this year. Apart from this, there is also good demand in sales, brand strategy, cyber security and advisory services.
