Vivo is going to bring a new Origin OS for its users in China. Currently, most Vivo and IQO Phone run on Origin OS 5 based on Android 15. Origin OS 6 based on Android 16 will be introduced next month. The upcoming Vivo X300 series will be the first series to run on Origin OS 6. Now a tipster claims that the company is also preparing to remove the Funtouch OS in India and bring origin OS.
Tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) has posted on X that Vivo and IQO smartphones in India will soon start running on Origin OS interfaces. Although he has described it as ‘confirmation’, it cannot be considered sure until the official update comes from the company.
Currently, Vivo and IQO smartphones in India run on Funtouch OS. If this information is proved correct, Vivo will gradually replace the Funtouch OS from the origin OS. This will give Indian users a similar experience like China.
This is not the first time that Origin OS is being talked about coming to India. A few weeks ago, on Reddit’s R/Vivo Thread, a user, who described himself as an employee of Vivo India, claimed that Android 16 based origin OS 6 would be launched in India. However, the user did not tell any time limit. It can start with high-end models and later reach mid-range and entry-level phones.
On the other hand, Vivo has confirmed that Android 16 based origin OS 6 will be launched in China on 10 October. Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro can be the first smartphone to run on this latest origin OS 6.
