Google has given a big and impressive update to its AI video generation model, Veo 3.1. With this new version, creating videos is easier, faster and more professional than ever. The company claims that this model now works with better quality, deeper understanding of prompts and stable character. Most importantly, Veo 3.1 now supports creating vertical videos directly for Shorts and Reels, saving content creators a lot of time and effort.
Ingredients just got more powerful for video features
In Veo 3.1, Google has made the Ingredients to Video feature even smarter. Now users will not need to write long prompts. Even with just a reference image and a short text, an engaging and narrative-filled video can be created. With the new update, videos get a cinematic touch, better flow and natural transitions. According to Google, this model now represents characters and objects more accurately and consistently across scenes.
Continuity in character and scene
The strongest feature of Veo 3.1 is considered to be the continuity of its character. Now, the character’s face, body language and overall look remains the same throughout the video. Not only this, the backgrounds, textures and props used also reappear in the same form in different scenes. This makes it very easy to combine smaller clips into one long and continuous story.
Native vertical support for Shorts and Reels
With this update, Google has added direct support for the 9:16 aspect ratio. Now videos will be generated in vertical format, which can be uploaded to YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels or TikTok without cropping. Google says that this feature is specially designed for those creators who create content quickly for mobile platforms.
Where to get better video quality and Veo 3.1
Google has also paid special attention to video output quality in Veo 3.1. Now, 1080p videos look sharper and clearer, and the option for 4K upscaling has also been added, although the feature is not yet available on all platforms. The new Ingredients to Videos feature is available in YouTube Shorts, the YouTube Create app, and the Gemini app. Business users and developers can also access it through the Flow app, Gemini API, Vertex AI, and Google Vids.
