New Delhi, May 4 (IANS). Commerce and Trade Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday held a review meeting with key officials and chief negotiators to assess the progress of India’s free trade agreements (FTAs).

The minister posted on social media platform

Earlier, Goyal interacted with a Japanese delegation to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties.

“Met a delegation led by Takayuki Kobayashi, a member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Policy Research Council of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP),” Goyal said in a post on Twitter.

He further said, “Discussions were held on strengthening India-Japan economic ties, enhancing MSME partnership and deepening cooperation in key sectors such as automobile, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and advanced manufacturing.”

Goyal had said on Friday that the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) is driving strong trade expansion and opening new avenues for Indian businesses.

Four years after the implementation of the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, bilateral economic relations between India and the UAE have witnessed significant growth in many sectors.

Highlighting this progress, Goyal said that this agreement has created transformative opportunities for Indian farmers, small and medium enterprises and businesses. He pointed out that bilateral trade between the two countries has crossed the $100 billion mark – showing strong momentum since the implementation of the agreement. Services trade has also grown steadily, helping Indian companies access new markets and enhance value creation.

He also held virtual talks with UK Trade and Commerce Minister Peter Kyle to further strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties. The minister said in a social media post that the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen trade and investment ties by taking full advantage of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.
