New Delhi, March 20 (IANS). Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Greece’s Deputy Foreign Minister Harry Theoharis on Friday discussed ways to enhance cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, tourism and maritime connectivity.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal held this meeting through virtual medium and gave information about it on social media platform X.
He said that India attaches great importance to its growing relations with Greece and wants to strengthen this partnership further.
Earlier in February, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met during the AI Impact Summit 2026 held in the national capital.
In this meeting, the two leaders reviewed several aspects of the India-Greece strategic partnership, including cooperation in trade, defence, security, tourism, culture and new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, both countries especially emphasized on increasing connectivity through the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). He also expressed hope for the early implementation of the India-Europe Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which will benefit the economies of both the countries and increase employment opportunities for the youth.
IMEC corridor will be built in two parts. One, the Eastern Corridor, which will connect India with the Gulf countries, and the other, the Northern Corridor, which will connect the Gulf region with Europe.
The objective of this corridor is to increase connectivity, reduce costs, secure supply chains and ease trade. Through this, there will be better economic connectivity between Asia, Europe and the Middle East and new employment opportunities will be created.
