New Delhi, March 7 (IANS). According to information received from government sources on Saturday, there will be no increase in the prices of petrol and diesel. Sources said that India’s energy reserves situation is continuously improving and the situation is becoming more stable than before.

According to government sources, the improvement in the position of energy reserves has given the government more confidence in handling the fuel supply.

He said India has taken steps to diversify crude oil imports so as to reduce dependence on sensitive sea routes.

Sources said that earlier about 60 percent of India’s total crude oil imports came from sources outside the Strait of Hormuz, but now this share has increased to about 70 percent.

He also said that the first oil shipment has departed from the Strait of Hormuz, indicating that the oil supply is gradually returning to normal.

The government’s clarification came at a time when opposition political parties had alleged that fuel prices may increase. Responding to these allegations, government sources said that these are completely baseless allegations.

He clarified that the assurance given earlier was only related to the prices of petrol and diesel, it was not about LPG.

Sources reiterated that there will be no increase in the prices of petrol and diesel.

He said, “This was said only for petrol and diesel. It was not related to LPG. Today we again assure that the prices of petrol and diesel will not increase.”

On the issue of LPG, sources said that the government is currently working towards giving priority to LPG production, so that its adequate supply can be ensured.

He also informed that the price of LPG cylinder has increased by approximately Rs 110 in the last 12 years.

According to sources, the government is keeping a close watch on the situation in the energy sector and is taking necessary steps to maintain stable fuel supply and prices.
