New Delhi, 25 September (IANS). Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) symptoms start many years before appearing and start spreading in the body. The disease causes joint pain and inflammation and gradually damages the joints. Scientists revealed this in their new research.
RA is a disease in which the body’s security system starts attacking the joints of the body itself. This causes inflammation in the joints and they start to cause problems and cause problems.
Till now it was believed that the disease begins only when the patient feels pain or swelling in joints, but new studies have shown that the disease starts in the body long ago, when there is no symptom.
This new research published in the magazine Science Translational Medicine suggests that in the initial stage of the disease, there is not only inflammation of joints in the body, but a kind of swelling across the body. That is, this disease is not limited to the joints, but affects many parts of the body.
“This study will help doctors and scientists so that they can catch the disease quickly and treat the disease in time,” said researcher at American Alan Institute.
The study lasted for seven years and tracked people in which antibodies called ACPA were found in the blood. These antibodies are indicators that suggest whether a person is in the risk of RA or not. Researchers found that many new things came out during this period, including the spread of swelling in the body, disturbances of immune cells and changing the way of working of cells.
The team found that some special immune cells of the body, such as B cells, which usually make good antibodies fighting infections, started making inflammation antibodies in RA threats. At the same time, a special variety of T Helper cells, TFH 17, also increased much more than normal, which further promotes inflammation.
Apart from this, ‘Nev’ T cells also found change at DNA level (epigenetic changes).
Research also observed that white blood cells named monocytes present in the blood were also causing abnormal inflammation. These cells were exactly like the macrophages that cause inflammation in the joints of RA patients, showing that the disease is already preparing in the body to damage the joints.
