New Delhi, December 13 (IANS). India’s cellular IoT (Internet of Things) market grew 40 percent between July and September. During this period, India remained ahead of many countries of the world. This information came out in a new report.

According to the report of research company Counterpoint Research, this rapid growth in India has been due to smart meters, point of sale (POS) machines and telematics i.e. technology related to vehicles.

The company’s senior analyst Tina Lu said that in the third quarter (July-September) of the year 2025, the highest growth occurred in those countries where the markets are new and it is necessary to keep the prices low.

According to the report, while there was a 40 percent increase in India, there was a 10 percent increase in the shipment of cellular IoT modules across the world during this period.

The report states that the IoT market is continuously growing due to technology related to smart metering, goods tracking, routers and vehicles. Additionally, older systems are now being replaced by cellular technology, which will lead to even better IoT services in the future.

Counterpoint Research Director Mohit Aggarwal said that the demand for IoT devices equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasing rapidly in areas like vehicles, factories and retail. He said that now the importance of IoT is not limited to connectivity only, but now more attention is being given to smart technology and long-lasting services.

According to the report, the IoT market grew by 7 percent in China, 11 percent in Europe and only 4 percent in North America, because companies there are being cautious in spending. Also, the industry is now focused on high-value and AI-related IoT. At the same time, work is also being done on new 5G technology and secure software.

CAT-1 Bis technology remains the most used IoT technology in the world, while REDCAP technology is still in its early stages and research work is going on.
