New Delhi, October 20 (IANS). US industrialist Elon Musk on Monday praised his satellite internet service Starlink for launching 10,000 satellites.
In fact, the company launched a Falcon 9 rocket carrying 28 Starlink internet satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. During this, Starlink crossed the 10,000 mark on October 19.
The launch also marked SpaceX’s 132nd Falcon 9 flight in 2025, equaling last year’s record. However, there is still more than two months left in the year to break this record.
“Congratulations to the Starlink and Falcon teams for building and launching 10,000 satellites! SpaceX now has many times more satellites in orbit than all others combined,” Musk wrote in a post on social media platform X.
“SpaceX has launched more than 10,000 Starlink satellites to date, providing reliable high-speed internet access to millions of people around the world,” Starlink added on X.
The Starlink network launched in 2018 with two prototype satellites, named Tintin A and Tintin B. Starlink is currently serving millions of users around the world. More than 8,000 Starlink satellites launched by SpaceX are currently operational.
Let us tell you, Starlink, operated by SpaceX, provides internet services through a group of low Earth orbit satellites. It is used in remote areas and conflict zones around the world.
It is allowed to deploy up to 12,000 satellites, and there are plans to expand the network to more than 30,000. It is available in more than 150 countries and territories. Its use has been approved in India also.
Meanwhile, SpaceX recently completed the 11th test flight of its Starship rocket on October 13. The rocket launched from Starbase in Texas and flew for more than an hour before landing successfully in the Indian Ocean.
SpaceX’s Starship Flight 10 also made a “soft landing” and splashdown on target in August, ending a string of failures for the spacecraft this year.
