New Delhi, July 18 (IANS). Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Saturday congratulated Skyroot Aerospace on the successful orbital launch of Vikram-1, saying that this historic mission is the beginning of a new era for India’s private space industry and is also a true example of the spirit of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
In his post on social media platform X, Gautam Adani said that the successful first orbital flight of Vikram-1 and achieving all mission objectives is a historic achievement for India’s rapidly emerging private space ecosystem.
He said, “My heartiest congratulations to Pawan Chandana, Bharat Daka, the wonderful team at Skyroot Aerospace and ISRO and IN-Space who made this mission possible.”
Gautam Adani said that Vikram-1 has successfully accomplished all the mission objectives in its first orbital flight and has ushered in a new era for India’s private space sector.
He said, “History has been created. Vikram-1 has brilliantly accomplished all the mission objectives in its first orbital flight. This is the real proof of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.”
Describing the mission as a symbol of India’s self-reliance, he said that this achievement presents the country’s growing technological capability and the power of innovation to the world.
He said, “The average age of this team is just 28 years. It is a testament to the whole world what young India can achieve. Jai Hind!”
Earlier on Saturday, Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace successfully launched Vikram-1 under ‘Mission Aagaman’. With this, India became the third country in the world after America and China, where a private company has successfully demonstrated the ability to launch a rocket into orbit.
Named after the father of India’s space programme, Dr Vikram Sarabhai, the four-stage Vikram-1 launch vehicle is designed to provide fast and on-demand launch services for small satellites.
This mission is also considered an important step towards further strengthening India’s position in the global commercial launch market.
This rocket, about seven storeys high, has been sent into the low earth orbit (Low Earth Orbit – LEO) to reach a height of about 450 kilometers.
With this successful launch, India has joined the select group of countries where private companies have successfully demonstrated the capability of orbital launch.
