New Delhi, July 18 (IANS). Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh on Saturday said the successful launch of Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1 is a proud moment for India and reflects the positive and far-reaching impact of the country’s decision to open up the space sector to private companies.
In a special conversation with IANS after the successful launch of Vikram-1, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that this is a proud moment for every Indian, because for the first time a private company has successfully launched its rocket as per its plan.
He said, “It is definitely a proud moment for all of us and the entire country. For the first time, a private company has successfully launched its rocket as per its plan.”
Dr. Jitendra Singh told IANS, “This was possible because five-six years ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a bold decision and opened the country’s space sector to private companies.”
Congratulating all parties involved in the mission, the Minister said that Skyroot Aerospace has created history by becoming the first private company in India to conduct an orbital launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.
He said, “Congratulations to Skyroot for successfully conducting this launch from Sriharikota as India’s first private company. Congratulations to IN-Space for making this wonderful public-private partnership possible. Congratulations to ISRO for taking this collaboration forward in a great way. Above all, hearty gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making this possible and many congratulations to him.”
The Minister said that this rapid progress achieved within just 5 years reflects the success of India’s space reforms.
He said that India’s record of successful launch in the first attempt has been much better than the countries which started their space programs decades before India.
He said, “The achievements that have been achieved in just the last 5 years are nothing short of a miracle. 5 years is not a very long time in terms of space sector. If compared to the countries which started much earlier than us, India’s record of success in the first attempt is much better than them. Today’s achievement adds another new chapter to that glorious record.”
