American tech giant Apple has launched a new feature focusing on health in India. This feature will help users identify symptoms of breathing problems during sleep – especially sleep apnea.
**This feature will be available on Apple Watch**
The company has added “Sleep Apnea Notification” feature to its Apple Watch. This feature will track the breathing patterns of users while sleeping and alert them if there is any disturbance.

The company says that good sleep is important for both human health and lifestyle. The effect of lack of sleep or poor sleep is clearly visible on both physical and mental health.
**What is sleep apnea?**
Sleep apnea is considered a common, but serious medical condition. In this, breathing gets interrupted for a few seconds while sleeping, due to which the body does not get enough oxygen. According to reports, more than one billion people worldwide are affected by this condition. If it is not treated, sleep apnea can cause many serious health problems. This can increase the risk of high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and heart-related diseases. **How does Apple Watch detect this condition?**
The Apple Watch has a special feature designed to track “interruptions in breathing.” Using its accelerometer, the feature detects disruptions to normal breathing patterns by sensing slight movements of the wrist.
**Data will be analyzed in 30 days**
Apple Watch will analyze user data for approximately 30 days. If persistent symptoms of sleep apnea occur, a notification will be sent to the user. If the watch continues to show symptoms of this condition, the user will be advised to consult a doctor and undergo further medical examination. This can help in timely detection of this condition.
