New Delhi, May 19 (IANS). Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday said there is a need to deepen partnership between the government and industries to enhance India’s competitiveness, achieve the goal of Developed India 2047 and promote ease of doing business.
Speaking at the ASSOCHAM India Business Reform Submit 2026 in the national capital, the Union Minister said the current global situation and geopolitical uncertainties should be seen as an opportunity for India to strengthen business processes, reform faster, develop greater resilience and strengthen supply chains.
“India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have never let any crisis go in vain and expressed confidence that the country will convert the current global risks into opportunities for growth and recovery,” Goyal said.
Speaking on the changes in the global situation and the West Asia crisis, Goyal said that businesses should remain alert to both opportunities and risks without panicking.
He said, “India has successfully faced unexpected challenges like COVID-19.”
He stressed the need for more efficient and effective business processes including reducing wastage, increasing productivity and adopting energy efficiency measures.
He said, “The experiences gained during the Covid period have demonstrated the effectiveness of digital engagement and work from home model.”
Referring to the rapid growth of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India, Goyal said around 1,800 GCCs are operational in the country and are generating around 20 lakh direct and around 10 crore indirect jobs.
“International companies are increasingly recognizing India as a trusted partner, with young and talented human resources capable of supporting global operations,” Goyal said.
The minister expressed confidence in India’s services sector and said emerging technologies like AI and cyber security will create new opportunities.
“India should look at emerging technology, trade reforms and global growth as opportunities,” Goyal stressed.
“The government is creating an enabling environment for investment in data centers and cloud services through trusted global partnerships, availability of data at low cost, expansion of renewable energy and strong power infrastructure,” he said.
