Mumbai, June 15 (IANS). Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) on Monday said its operated Navi Mumbai International Airport and the new Terminal 2 of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati have been included in the list of ‘World’s Most Beautiful Airports 2026’ by the prestigious Prix Versailles Architecture and Design Awards.
With this, both the airports in India join the seven aviation infrastructure projects globally that have been selected for their excellent architecture, sustainability and passenger-centric design.
The annual Prix Versailles Awards, presented at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, honor contemporary architectural achievements that encompass innovation, cultural identity and environmental responsibility.
Terminal 1 of Navi Mumbai International Airport was recognized for its unique architecture and futuristic design inspired by the lotus.
The terminal combines technology, art and functionality to deliver a world-class travel experience and reflects India’s aspirations as a modern global economic powerhouse.
Meanwhile, Terminal 2 of Guwahati’s popular Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport was praised for its design inspired by the ecological and cultural heritage of the area.
As an important gateway to North-East India, the terminal takes architectural inspiration from the ‘Bamboo Orchid’. It incorporates biophilic design principles that reflect the rich biodiversity of the area while also ensuring sustainability and operational efficiency.
These two Indian airports were recognized along with major international aviation hubs of Guangzhou (China), Frankfurt am Main (Germany), Kandal Stueng (Cambodia), Pittsburgh (USA) and San Diego (USA).
