Meta’s messaging platform has introduced this new feature, allowing users to recharge their prepaid mobile numbers directly from within the app. The feature is currently being rolled out in phases on both Android and iOS devices.

One special thing about this feature is that you can easily recharge not only your mobile number but also the mobile numbers of your friends and family members. This eliminates the trouble of repeatedly opening different apps or visiting external websites.
How this feature works
WhatsApp has made this process very easy. Users simply have to tap on the ‘₹’ icon, select ‘Mobile Prepaid Recharge’, select a contact or enter a number, choose a plan, and complete the payment. This entire process can be completed in just a few easy steps.

Through this feature, users can view and recharge plans from major telecom operators like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea.

For recharge, users are given multiple payment options, including UPI, debit card and credit card. The service is powered by PayU, ensuring that transactions are fast and seamless.
A shortcut through the ₹ icon
A new ‘₹’ icon has been added to the WhatsApp home screen, which acts as a shortcut to the payments section. Through this icon, users can recharge their mobiles, send money and avail other services like booking metro tickets.
