The European Union (EU) has taken a major step against Elon Musk’s social media platform X for violating digital rules. EU के डिजिटल सर्विसेज़ एक्ट (DSA) के नियमों को तोड़ने के लिए X पर €120 मिलियन (लगभग ₹1,080 करोड़) का भारी जुर्माना लगाया गया है। According to the European Commission,

Strict action under Digital Services Act
The EU says X failed to comply with transparency standards set out in the DSA. The law requires platforms to ensure that users remain safe and protected from harmful content and scams. The Commission also made it clear that heavy fines can be imposed on those who violate the DSA. According to the EU, the blue check marks of the This increases the risk of scams, fake accounts and manipulation. The commission called it a deceptive design and said it went against EU online security standards.

Lack of transparency in advertising database
Under EU rules, platforms are required to provide a database of all their ads, detailing who placed the ads, who the target audience is, and what the intent is. However, the Commission found that X’s database was slow to access and contained incomplete information. Such design features make it difficult for researchers to identify fake advertisements and propaganda.

Barriers to data access for researchers
The investigation also found that the X platform creates “unnecessary barriers” to researchers trying to access data. The EU says this action goes against the spirit of transparency and public interest. The EU’s Executive Vice President issued a statement saying that circumvention, hiding of advertising, and obstruction of research are unacceptable under European digital laws, and the DSA protects against it.
