Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) says that primary schools and then secondary schools can be opened.

After the effect of corona in the country has reduced and vaccination for corona is available, now that the government has given relaxation in lockdown to almost every area, now there is talk of opening schools gradually. In such a situation, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that first primary schools and then secondary schools can be opened. However, this decision will be taken at the district and state level and will depend on many factors.

Let us tell you that ICMR DG Dr Balram Bhargava said that small children can easily handle this virus. Their lungs lack receptors where the virus goes. The CIRO survey found that children aged 6 to 9 had the same antibodies as adults. Dr Bhargava said primary schools were not closed in many European countries. Schools were not closed in any wave of Corona in those countries. So we are of the opinion that primary schools can be opened first. He said that after this secondary schools can be opened. But it is important to see that from the teacher to all the support staff are fully vaccinated. However, this decision will be taken at the district and state level. This will depend on many factors. Everyone involved in the school has to make sure they get vaccinated, what is the test positivity rate and what is the state of public health.

At the same time, AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria also advised that schools can be opened in different phases in districts where corona infection has reduced. Dr Guleria said that a plan can be made to open schools in districts with less than 5% infection rate. He said that alternatives should be explored to bring the children to schools. He said that even children have good immunity against the virus.

Significantly, the Ministry of Health says that about a third of the population above the age of 6 years is at risk of corona. One out of every three people are at risk from it. That is, about 40 crore people in the country are at risk of corona. The CIRO survey found that antibodies against corona have been formed in two-thirds of the population.
