The United States attacked Venezuela and captured President Nicolás Maduro along with his wife, Cilia Flores, who was flown out of the country. Subsequently, US President Donald Trump told Fox News on Saturday that he had planned to conduct this military operation four days earlier, but had to postpone it due to bad weather.
“We were supposed to do it four days ago, but the weather was not favorable. The weather has to be favorable. It was wonderful. Let me tell you – it was very secure, like a fortress. In fact, none of our soldiers were killed, none of our planes were destroyed,” Trump said in his first remarks after the US strikes in Venezuela.
“We had to do it. This is a war. We’re losing 300,000 people every year. We don’t suffer that many losses in war,” he told Fox News.
Trump said that this action of America indicates that now we as a country are not going to come under anyone’s pressure. He appreciated the professionalism behind this action.
“It was great to see the quality of leadership and professionalism. We had some injuries on our side but no one died, which is really amazing,” Trump told Fox News.
He further added, “We were surrounded by a lot of people, including generals, and they were aware of everything. It was extremely complex – the entire maneuver – the landings, the number of aircraft, the helicopters, different types of fighter jets. They came in forcefully, and entered places where it was not really possible to infiltrate.”
