Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film ‘The Bengal Files’ is in a lot of difficulty about the release abroad. Starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher and Darshan Kumar, the film will not be released on time in Mauritius, UAE, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
The international release censorship of this controversial film has been averted due to hurdles, and it will no longer be released on the scheduled date on 5 September. However, ‘The Bengal Files’ will be released in theaters on the fixed date in India.
According to media reports, the production team said that the Censor Board of Mauritius has not yet been approved, due to which the release had to be postponed indefinitely. The film is also in the review process in UAE, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. In these countries, strict rules are applied to films made on political and socially sensitive subjects.
The journey of ‘The Bengal Files’ has not been easy. From the opposition of the West Bengal government to the delay of the sensor, Vivek and his team have faced many challenges to bring out the dark phase of this Indian history.
About the film
‘The Bengal Files’ files are the third series of the franchise, before ‘The Tashkent Files’ (2019) and ‘The Kashmir Files’ (2022) have come. It will feature many artists including Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar.
The film was previously named ‘The Delhi Files: The Bengal Chapter’ and was to be released on August 15, but the release of the film was averted due to the death of production designer Rajat Podar. Now the film will compete with Tiger Shroff’s ‘Baaghi 4’ and Hollywood Horror Movie ‘The Conjuring: The Last Rights’.
