United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister Keir Starmer is on his India tour these days. The UK Prime Minister is in Mumbai today on the second day of his tour. Starmer and Narendra Modi met at Maharashtra Raj Bhavan. Both the leaders signed the trade agreement. Starmer praised India’s rapid economic progress, calling it an “amazing growth story”.

Starmer said, PM Modi, it was an honor to host you in the UK in July, and now only a few months later I am very happy to return to India. PM Modi said, “India and the UK are natural partners. He noted the significant progress made in India-UK relations under Starmer’s leadership. Cooperation between the two countries has deepened in areas such as defence, education and trade.

9 British universities will open their campuses in India

During the meeting, UK Prime Minister Starmer made a big announcement and said that 9 British universities will open their campuses in India. This is an important step towards promoting education and cooperation between India and the UK.

Prime Minister Starmer has been accompanied by the largest and most influential delegation from the education sector ever.

It is a matter of great joy that now nine universities of UK are going to open campuses in India.

Trade Agreement (CETA)

The agreement signed in July is expected to lower import costs, create new jobs and increase trade. PM Modi said, “This agreement will increase employment opportunities for the youth, trade will increase and our industry and consumers will benefit.” He also praised the presence of the largest-ever UK business delegation accompanying Starmer.

Shared vision on global peace

Both leaders reiterated their commitment to global peace. Modi stressed the need for a peaceful resolution in Gaza and Ukraine and said dialogue and diplomacy should be promoted in global affairs.

Modi said Starmer’s visit to India and the accompanying large business delegation indicate new energy and a broader vision in the India-UK partnership. The meeting reiterates both countries’ commitment to a strong, future-ready partnership and shared democratic values.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer extended advance wishes for Diwali in Hindi. Modi and Starmer will go to Jio World Centre. Will participate in Global Fintech Fest 2025 here. This is the world’s largest fintech event. Today is the last day of Starmer’s two-day visit to India.
