Epstein revelations gave a rotten glimpse of the world’s famous rich, leaders and celebrities, many people were removed from their posts in Europe but no action was taken in America.

The reverberations of the Epstein files were felt as far as the world’s most powerful capitals. The release of these files created a political and social storm. US President Donald Trump had no intention of releasing these files. Trump was later pressured through a poll, and the Trump administration finally released the first part of the Epstein files. The sordid story of Jeffrey Epstein was already well known. Some names were also in front of the people. But when the US Justice Department uploaded three million documents, it was as if a window was opened to peek into the lives of the rich and famous. These documents crossed all limits and exposed the sordid truth of a global immoral elite hiding itself under the guise of philanthropy and intellectual glitz. These files are not just a list of who met whom. These expose a deep web of conspiracies, where the influence of power is the biggest power and there is no fear of accountability.

Who is not in this list? Presidents, princes, billionaires, Nobel laureates, hedge fund tycoons, university chancellors, royals, tech company founders, personalities from both left and right camps, everyone’s name is on the list to fly to that island. These names are plastered across address books, guest lists and donor lists.

The list includes quite a list of world-shavers, from Presidents Trump and Bill Clinton to US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Queen Elizabeth’s disgraced son (who has been stripped of his royal title and will now be known only as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor), his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, Britain’s Ambassador to the US Lord Mandelson, Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak. One of Dubai’s most powerful and influential people also includes Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, who is also the former head of logistics giant DP World. Apart from this, tech billionaire and philanthropist Bill Gates, the world’s richest person Elon Musk, Trump’s once close advisor and Steve Bannon, the influential face of the ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA) movement, are also seen in it. The list is so long that it seems impossible to end.

Surveillance cameras installed at various Epstein properties, including his island, raise serious questions. Was he keeping an eye on his guests and recording them to blackmail them? Was he working for some intelligence agency? He was obviously Jewish, hence speculation that he had connections to Israel’s ‘deep state’. But nothing can be said with certainty. What is undisputed is that he was a pedophile and sex trafficker. He had agents spread across Europe and Russia, who arranged for underage girls to be lured and sent to America. It is still not clear how many of the people whose names have appeared in the files were aware of this horrific truth.

It is ironical that the demand to make these files public was initiated by Trump’s MAGA supporters. It is still unclear why these files were not released during the four-year tenure of former US President Joe Biden. But throughout Biden’s presidency, MAGA influencers like Marjorie Taylor Greene continued to demand the declassification of these files.

This is how a person becomes a mockery: A person impersonates Trump and protests

More than concern for the victims, it was dominated by the belief that top Democratic Party figures were linked to Epstein and the MAGA camp was determined to expose the alleged misconduct of left-liberals. Trump had also promised during the election campaign that as soon as he comes to power, he would release these files to the general public.

But Trump’s attitude changed after assuming office. Initially, his Attorney General Pam Bondi had said that “Epstein’s ‘client list’ is sitting on my desk” and that she would soon make it public. This raised expectations in the MAGA camp. However, the US Justice Department later reversed this promise of Bondi and said that Epstein neither had a ‘client list’ nor any list of names of trafficked underage girls. The files were carefully scrutinized to remove names that could have harmed Trump and his close billionaire friends. She later called Trump’s handling of the Epstein case the “biggest strategic mistake” of his political career. She also alleged that the president was ultimately forced to cross party lines to block the release of the documents. Stand together and vote in favor of releasing the files. After this the ‘Epstein Files Transparency Act’ became law.

Epstein’s victims and their families fought hard to get the files released. But now they are disappointed that instead of exposing sex trafficking rings, the published documents only expose the faces of the victims and hide the identities of the culprits. His fight to release the remaining files is still going on. Now the victimized girls, who have grown up, are in no mood to spare those who molested them under any circumstances. It is a different matter that no action has been taken on this in America yet. It is not that every name is involved in wrongdoing. But Trump’s non-disclosure attitude remains a major obstacle in this. Initially, Latnick said he knew Epstein only as a neighbor. Their lies were caught when files revealed they had lunch with the family on Epstein’s private island in 2012. Yet Latnik was not asked to step down until the investigation was completed. U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanch also ruled out further action, saying “partying with Epstein is not a crime.”

President Trump’s name is everywhere in the Epstein case. But no one is questioning him. Perhaps because his relationship with the former criminal had deteriorated. But despite the revelations, accountability is still not at the same level. There have been some resignations, such as Clinton’s Treasury Secretary Larry H. Summers resigning from Harvard. Brad Karp has resigned as chairman of the prestigious law firm Paul, Weiss. Goldman Sachs’ top lawyer Katherine Ruemmler has also stepped down. Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell is still in jail. Despite all this, the results are visible only limited.

This whole matter also has a big connection with the crisis of capitalism. What the Epstein files expose is a worship of money and power gone bad. “I think the deeper impact of this is to reveal the extent of the erosion of morals and values within the American elite in the era of late capitalism,” says Philip Golub, a professor at the American University in Paris.

He says that the last two decades have exposed the excessive tendencies of capitalism in America. According to Golub, “Epstein was an exceptionally gifted predator, and his emergence occurred amid a broader wave of Wall Street arrogance, misconduct, and at times blatant illegality, which flourished entirely in the context of market liberalization and ‘creative’ financial engineering. This ultimately led to first the national, then the global financial crisis of 2008.” He adds, “Investment bankers and shadow bankers began to amass vast fortunes and became the focus of narcissism as well as financial media sycophancy. Remember the ‘Titans’ of finance, the ‘Masters of the Universe’, the cocaine-laced sex parties that were an integral part of this late-capitalist social pathology, so effectively depicted in Martin Scorsese’s film The Wolf of Wall Street. Has been painted from.

It started with the royal family. Former Prince Andrew was not only stripped of his royal title, but he was also removed from the Royal Lodge and sent to a smaller house. Government funding for his personal security was also stopped. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also faced a serious political crisis. Peter Mandelson is a senior leader of the Labor Party, he was arrested but got bail. He has been a minister in both the governments of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. Mandelson’s appointment as ambassador to the US would have undermined Starmer’s position because Peter’s name has appeared several times in the Epstein files. Like many others, Mandelson remained friends with Epstein despite his 2008 conviction for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. While serving as Business Secretary in the Brown government, he used his position to pass sensitive financial information related to the markets to his friend Epstein. He is being investigated for taking $75,000 from Epstein between 2002 and 2004. Morgan McSweeney, Starmer’s longtime close ally and the prime minister’s chief of staff, resigned and took “full responsibility” for advising on Mandelson’s appointment as envoy to Washington. Taking the blame, McSweeney tries to save his boss. As demands for Starmer’s resignation intensified, his top aide had to step down. Now Labor Party MPs are also raising questions on Starmer’s decision.

The names of former Norwegian Prime Minister Thorbjorn Ygland, former Foreign Minister Borge Brende, who currently leads the World Economic Forum, former senior Norwegian diplomat Mona Yule and the Crown Princess have also appeared in the Epstein files. The Norwegian Parliament has set up an independent commission to investigate this matter, although it is likely that the Crown Princess will not be interrogated.

Resignations of people linked to Epstein’s circle continue across Europe. Jacques Lang, 86, a prominent face of the French cultural world and a minister during the tenure of President François Mitterrand, has resigned from the post of head of the prestigious Arab World Institute in Paris. This decision was taken after his family’s financial ties to the financial businessman came to light.

Slovakia’s national security adviser and former foreign minister, Miroslav Lychak, was ousted from office for discussing “pretty girls” with Epstein. Along with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the name of former diplomat and current minister Hardeep Puri has also appeared in these files. Epstein’s comments were in the context of Modi’s 2017 visit to Israel. The Foreign Ministry reacted sharply to this. A State Department spokesperson described Epstein’s allegations as “low-bought and baseless nonsense from a convicted criminal” and said they “should be rejected with the utmost contempt.”

Joanna Spear, a British citizen who teaches at George Washington University in the US, says, “I think that important people in Britain lied about their relationship with Epstein and tried to downplay their role (Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Peter Mandelson), but they were caught. Perhaps Europe has less tolerance for lying to the public. Trump does this constantly on everything, big and small, so America has now become accustomed to it. ” She adds. Adds, “The situation in America is quite interesting. This has led many to speculate that Trump does not want to punish anyone, as there may be more skeletons linked to Epstein hidden in his own closet. However, this is just speculation.

These revelations tarnished the reputation of America, from where Epstein ran his network. But apart from this nothing happened there. This documentary revelation is like sunshine and shade for the victims and their families. No one knows whether the equations will change when the remaining sealed files come to light. The fight for complete transparency is still going on. Women who were once helpless girls have made it clear that they are not going to back down. But the question still remains, will accountability ever be truly fixed?
