Donald Trump has shared an important information amid the ongoing tension with Iran. He has said that America and Iran are very close to a deal and negotiations are progressing very well. But at the same time, he has increased the stir by indicating to send ground troops to Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil hub. Trump believes that capturing oil resources can be a better option and the US military is ready for this.
What information did Trump give regarding talks and military action?
Trump told the Financial Times that talks between the US and Iran are in the right direction and an agreement may be reached soon. Iran has accepted most of the points of the 15-point peace plan sent through Pakistan. Referring to Kharg Island, he said that the US Army can very easily capture this export hub. According to Trump, his priority is to capture Iran’s oil, although he said that many options are still open. Iran has given 20 oil tankers safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz as a show of respect amid talks.
What is Iran’s response and current situation?
The government and army of Iran have reacted strongly to this entire situation. Tehran has clearly said that it will not accept any kind of insult or pressure. Iran’s military has already warned that if there is an attack on their oil bases or energy infrastructure, they will target oil companies in the region that are cooperating with the US.
The US has deployed thousands of additional troops to the Gulf region in recent days. It includes Marines and troops from the 82nd Airborne Division. The Pentagon is currently considering various options for ground action on Kharg Island. Trump also said that America has so far targeted 13,000 targets in Iran and about 3,000 targets are still left.
