After the attack on the Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) plant in Al Taweelah, UAE, the company has given a big update. This missile and drone attack by Iran has caused heavy damage to many parts of the plant. The company says that it may take about a year for the work to be completely back on track. The staff was evacuated safely during this attack, but some employees suffered minor injuries. This incident may also impact the aluminum market of Gulf countries and the expatriates working there.

How much damage has the plant suffered from the attack?
EGA has informed that important parts like smelter, alumina refinery and power plant have been extensively damaged in the attack. At present, a complete assessment of the damage is being done and only after this the major repair work will begin. It is expected to take up to 12 months to fully restore main aluminum production.

People from more than 40 countries work in this plant, including a large number of Indians and immigrants from other Asian countries. Company CEO Abdulnasir bin Kalwan said that he is deeply troubled by this attack on his workforce. However, it is a matter of relief that no employee has suffered fatal injuries.
