Eight billion and Muslim countries including Qatar, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt issued a joint statement on Tuesday, saying they welcome US President Donald Trump’s Gaza Shanti proposal.
Foreign ministers of these countries praised Trump’s efforts to establish peace in the region, expressing confidence in “leadership and honest efforts”. The ministers praised Trump’s comprehensive plan to end the Gaza struggle, rebuild Gaza and pursue peace in the Middle East. He also emphasized that the basis of any permanent solution should be on a two-state structure, in which Gaza is completely integrated into a Palestinian state with the West Bank.
The group presented its plan on major conditions such as unlimited delivery of humanitarian aid, prevention of displacement of Palestinians, release of hostages, safety guarantee for all sides, full Israeli return from Gaza and reconstruction of Gaza Strip. According to the peace plan, if the two sides accept the proposal, the war will immediately end and Israel will take its army back to the scheduled line.
During this time all military operations will be postponed and war lines will remain stable until the conditions are met. The plan also stated that within 72 hours of public acceptance of the agreement by Israel, both the hostages will be released and dead and then 250 life prisoners and 1,700 Gaza prisoners would be released. In addition, Hamas members who accept peace and inactivity of weapons will be forgiven and those who want to leave Gaza will be provided safe passage.
