In another incident of targeting of a Hindu person in Bangladesh, Shomir Kumar Das, a resident of Daganbhuyan upazila of Feni district, was killed on January 11.

According to Feni Superintendent of Police Shafiqul Islam, the victim had left home in his auto rickshaw on Sunday night, but later went missing. His body was recovered at around 2 in the morning.

“Shomir Kumar Das had left in his auto-rickshaw after 8 pm that night, but there was no trace of him after that. His body was found after 2 am,” Feni Superintendent of Police Shafiqul Islam told ANI over phone.

Police officials reached the spot, recovered the body and completed all necessary legal formalities. A case has been registered in connection with the incident and investigation is ongoing.

He further said, “As soon as the police received the information, they reached the spot and recovered the body and completed all the necessary legal formalities. A case has also been registered in this regard. However, till now we have not got any clue related to the murder nor has anyone been arrested. But our investigation and inquiry is going on.”

Citing the incident, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Malviya on Tuesday launched a strong attack on the interim government of Bangladesh over the alleged killings of religious minorities and claimed that “the lives of minorities have no value” in the country.

In a post on social media platform

Highlighting the recent incident, the BJP leader said the attackers also looted Das’s auto rickshaw, which was his only means of livelihood, and said the incident reflected the continued oppression of Hindus in Bangladesh, which according to him has been continuing since the advent of the “unelected Yunus regime”.

Malviya said, “In yet another targeted attack on the Hindu community in Bangladesh, 28-year-old Sameer Kumar Das was brutally murdered on January 11 in Dagonbhuiyan, Feni. The attackers also looted his auto rickshaw, which was his only means of livelihood. The murder underlines the continued oppression of Hindus in Bangladesh, who have been pushed to the brink of despair since the coming of the unelected Yunus government.” Has been given.”

Malviya also targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, warning that if she returns to power in the 2026 state elections, the situation of Hindu Bengalis in West Bengal “will not be any different, but will get worse.”

He wrote in the post, “If Mamata Banerjee comes back to power in 2026, the Hindu Bengali people of West Bengal should not entertain any illusions, the situation will not remain the same, but will become even worse. The blood stains of Horgobindo Das and his son Chandan Das have not dried yet.”
