A big news has come out amidst the ongoing tension in the Middle East. Iran has claimed that it has targeted the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. This incident is being told of March 5, 2026. However, America has completely rejected these claims. This round of statements between the two countries is further increasing the tension in the Gulf region.
What has Iran claimed?
Iranian state media and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have informed that they have taken this action under Operation True Promise 4. Iran says that its navy’s drone units and ballistic missiles have hit the American ship present in the sea of Oman.
An IRGC spokesperson said this was their 19th wave of retaliation. He claimed that after the attack, the American ship and other security ships accompanying it had to retreat about 1000 kilometers from the area. Iran says that the American ship was targeted when it came 340 kilometers near its maritime border.
America declared the news of the attack wrong
On the other hand, America’s Central Command (CENTCOM) and Pentagon have clearly termed these claims of Iran as false. US officials have said that the USS Abraham Lincoln is completely safe and is performing its work normally.
According to CENTCOM’s statement, the Iranian missiles did not fall anywhere near the ship. Flight operations by ship are still continuing. Apart from this, the videos of ship fire going viral on social media have been declared fake or old by the investigating agencies. This footage has been created using old accidents or computer graphics.
Its impact on people living in Gulf countries
The direct impact of this tension is visible on the economy of Gulf countries and the people living there. Oil prices have surged due to reports of ships being targeted near the Strait of Hormuz.
Air raid sirens are being heard in many areas of Gulf and Northern Israel, due to which there is an atmosphere of anxiety among the common people and Indian expatriates living there. America and Israel are jointly running Operation Epic Fury, the purpose of which is said to be to destroy Iranian missile sites.
