After the secret talks held in Muscat, the capital of Oman, the atmosphere in the Gulf has suddenly become heated. On Saturday, February 7, US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited America’s largest ship ‘USS Abraham Lincoln’ parked in the Arabian Sea. In response to this, Iran has also shown its preparedness and has directly warned America.

If attacked, American bases will be the target
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi has clearly said that if America takes any military action, Iran will not blow up its neighboring countries but will blow up the American military bases there. With this statement, Iran has taken out its dangerous ‘Khorramshahr-4’ ballistic missile and deployed it at its underground places.
Even during the talks, the tension between the two countries has not diminished. Iran says it will not make any compromise on reducing its missile forces, while America wants Iran to reduce its weapons and talk on human rights.
Face-off at sea and new restrictions
On February 3, just before the US officials’ visit, the US Navy shot down an Iranian ‘Shahed-139’ drone which had come too close to their ship. Apart from this, on February 7, America has imposed new stringent sanctions on 14 of its ships and 15 companies to put pressure on Iran.
US President Donald Trump has signed a new order on 6 February. Under this, a tax of up to 25% can be imposed on countries that do business with Iran. The table below contains key events of the last few days:
