What are the Saudi government’s rules regarding flying drones?
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has made strict rules regarding the use of drones to maintain air safety. If any drone weighs 250 grams or more, then it is necessary to register it. It is mandatory for expatriates and citizens living in Saudi to follow these rules.
Every drone should have a unique identification number which has to be renewed every three years. A valid remote pilot certificate is required for commercial work. Drones can be flown only in those areas which have been approved by the government. Flying a drone without registration is considered illegal.
Regional tension is considered to be the main reason behind these attacks. Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned these attacks and called them a violation of international laws. Security agencies are currently keeping a close watch on the situation so that there is no danger to the general public.
