The government of Saudi Arabia has taken a big and strict decision regarding its national language. A new National Policy for the Arabic Language has been approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on 3 February 2026. Under this, 8 main principles have been decided in the country, which will be applicable to government offices as well as private companies. This decision will have a direct impact on the companies and migrants working there.

What will change for private companies and shops?
According to the new rules, now in Saudi Arabia it has been made mandatory for all types of business documents, bills, contracts and price tags of goods at shops to be in Arabic language. If a company wishes, it can use English, but it will be accepted only as a second language. The aim of the government is to increase the use of Arabic language in the business sector. Strict action will be taken against companies that do not follow the rules and based on the old rules, a fine of up to 1 lakh riyals can also be imposed.
What will be the impact on job and normal life?
Under Saudi Vision 2030, Arabic will now be considered the main language in education and government work. Road sign boards, business names and names of national initiatives will also now be written in Arabic. It may also be necessary for foreigners who are working in professional jobs there to understand the language, for which their ability can be checked through some tests (like Hamzah Test). King Salman Global Academy (KSGAAL) will oversee the entire process and ensure that the correct Arabic language is being used everywhere.
